The First Chiro Appointment

Patient Forms:

When you arrive at the clinic, we will request that you complete our patient forms.  This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.

Consultation:

Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Terrence Lemay to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Lemay to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care or acupuncture or both can meet your goals.

Examination:

After your consultation, Dr. Lemay will perform a complete chiropractic examination, testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

Report of Findings:

Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. Lemay will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:

  • How can you help me?
  • How often do I need to come in?
  • What will my treatment cost?
  • How long does each appointment take?
  • How long will it take to resolve the problem?

After reviewing your health history, goals, and examination, Dr. Lemay will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers.   Dr. Lemay will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.

Treatment:

After the initial appointment and discussion of the appropriate care/treatment plan only then will the treatment begin.  The first treatment will be longer than the rest because of the explanation of treatment.  Treatment mainly consists of manual adjustments to the spine or joints in the extremities.  Soft tissue therapy/acupressure is also applied congruently with the adjustments to lessen the tension around the joint.  This also benefits the patient because less force is needed for the adjustment and they tend to see results more quickly.  Acupuncture may be recommended as well with the chiropractic care or by itself.  Sterilized needles are used in conjunction with the chiropractic adjustment to minimize muscle spasm and reduce pain.  Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns and ask questions about the different styles of treatment at anytime.
