CHIROPRACTIC

Optimal alignment leads to vitality and good health

What is Chiropractic Medicine?

Chiropractic is a type of drug-free and surgery-free natural health care. It is based on the philosophy that the body can be truly well only when the nervous system is functioning well. In order for that to happen, there must be no interference within the body. Chiropractic treatments focus on the removal of vertebral subluxations (spinal misalignments), which occur when a minor dislocation of the vertebrae places pressure on a nerve. This causes interference with the nervous system and can initiate a wide range of conditions, such as back pain, muscle tension, restricted range of motion, arthritic changes, and impingement of nerves, all of which may or may include obvious symptoms.

What is a Chiropractor?

Doctors of Chiropractic medicine restore alignment to the musculoskeletal system with gentle and effectual physical movements known as Chiropractic adjustments. Chiropractors are trained to focus on the whole person, rather than individual injuries or symptoms, thus providing a balanced and wellness-orientated approach. A chiropractor has a similar education and training background to other medical professions such as optometry and dentistry in Canada. This includes a minimum of 3 years of full time study in a university-level undergraduate program, followed by 4-5 years of full time study in an accredited Doctor of Chiropractic program. Chiropractors must also complete a 12-month clinical internship, and pass written and practical board exams in order to be licensed in Canada. They are also continuously regulated by their provincial board.

What Does Chiropractic Treat?

These days, people are required to go the extra mile with their performance, whether that be in the realm of sports, or their busy life. We all put great demands on our bodies, creating structural imbalances or subluxations. Chiropractors can treat a wide range of conditions, such as:

  • Back and neck sprains / strains
  • Whiplash
  • Myofascial pain
  • Herniated Discs
  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Tension and Migrane Headaches
  • Sciatica
  • Arthritis and Joint Pain
  • Scoliosis
  • and much more.

People have even reported benefits from Chiropractic for conditions such as asthma, colic, ear infections, blood pressure, organ function, gastrointestinal complaints, neurological conditions, frozen shoulder, and for increased athletic performance or healthy pregnancy.
